The Pork Panang Curry, served over perfectly steamed white rice, delivers a subtle yet aromatic blend of spices with a mild kick that excites the palate without overwhelming it. For those who crave traditional flavors elevated with finesse, the Pad Thai Basil is a must-order—sweet notes paired with just the right amount of heat and complemented by fresh stir-fried vegetables and plump shrimp. The baked chicken, stuffed with goat cheese, ham, and Swiss, accompanied by a delicate sauce and hearty sides, highlights the kitchen’s creative approach to familiar dishes.
Dessert lovers will find themselves utterly spoiled here. The classic French cakes are not only visually stunning but offer a sophisticated texture and flavor profile, like the uniquely textured coconut cream white cake with its sweet yet light icing. It’s clear that desserts at 221-The Cafe are crafted with as much passion and precision as the main courses, often prompting guests to order multiple sweets to go.

Quaint, quiet and cute! What a lovely place! The food was fresh, piping hot and delicious! Celebrated a birthday! Ordered 3 desserts to go! They were out of this world! The waitress brought a slice of cake and included a candle for the birthday girl to blow out with the check! All in all. Great food. Great atmosphere. Great staff. Even greater desserts

Well to come here you definitely need reservations. I ordered the Pork Panang Curry, it was served over white rice. The curry wasn't too strong but added great flavor to the dish. It wasn't too spicy but had a very minuscule kick. The desserts were amazing to look at. A whole variety of French cakes. I ordered a coconut cream white cake. It was a unique textured cake with sweet but not heavy icing. Perfect amount of coconut shavings pressed against the icing. I devoured the cake so quickly I could not get an image.

This was a very special day for my husband and I. The old Victorian home was very intimate and comfortable. The hostess was polite and helpful. Even though the menu was limited it was prepared individually and very delicious. We were happy we could take our own bottle of wine which I wish more smaller restaurants would do. It’s by reservation only. Our impression was that the owner who is the only chef wants to keep it secluded and special as they head towards retirement. All pastries were homemade and delicious. We hope to visit again soon. Parking is metered.

My husband and I enjoyed dinner at 221 Cafe (BYOB) on 31 May 2025. We shared a crab/avocado starter. Husband ordered baked chicken stuffed with goat cheese/ham/swiss, which came with a lovely sauce, potatoes and vegetables. I ordered spicy pad thai basil which was both sweet and only a touch spicy. It came with stir fry vegetables, rice noodles and 5 large shrimp. Both entrees were outstanding. Dinner was followed by a slice of homemade multilayered coconut cake. The bill was less than $100 including tax and tip. As we both thought this evening's dinner was extraordinarily tasty, I decided to come home and write about it. Truly a pleasant experience from start to finish.

There is really no better dining experience than at 221 The Cafe. Wonderful menu and the best Thai and Continental cuisine. It’s well worth the ten-minute walk from Main Street across the Broad Street bridge! And the desserts are all amazingly home made.
